Aussie Below Deck star Izzy Wouters officially comes out as an ‘out and proud lesbian’ after joining the hit Bravo series

Below Deck star Izzy Wouters has come out as a lesbian.  

The Kiwi-Australian shared a series of Instagram photos of herself on Wednesday with a cheeky expression on her face as she sat on a boat in New Zealand. 

She then wrote a tongue-in-cheek caption explaining that she’s a lesbian and tells straight men that she’s gay when they direct message her on social media.

‘The face of the straight men who slide into my dm’s when I say – HELLO MY NAME IS IZZY AND I AM OUT AND PROUD,’ she wrote, adding a rainbow flag emoji. 

Izzy then added the hashtags: ‘LankyLezzy, PussyPlease, and OutandProud,’ along with a series of rainbow love hearts. 

The bubbly brunette was immediately inundated with congratulations from her fans.

‘Yay! Go Izzy’ one fan wrote. Another wrote: ‘Love ya. Yet another wrote: ‘Yaaaaaassss!!!! obsessed with you.’ 

Izzy joined the show for the eighth season, which is currently airing now on Bravo and Hayu. She joined alongside Sydneysider Francesca Rubi and Gold Coast stunner Ashling Lorger.

Despite being a new cast member for the series, Izzy has gained a loyal following by using her platform to encourage body positivity.

In a recent post, she wrote: ‘Let’s keep normalising scars and stretch marks and moles and cellulite and hair that hasn’t been brushed for two days and all the things that make us human.’

She added: ‘The perfect body is the one that you currently have.’  

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia last month about the gruelling casting process she underwent to get on the series, Izzy revealed she had to do endless interviews and evaluations for five months before filming started.

‘They were very thorough. They want to make sure that you are actually qualified to work on a boat and that you’re a real yachtie and know what you’re doing,’ she said.

‘Obviously there were background checks and psych evaluations and all that because you’re sticking a bunch of people on a boat so you want to make sure these people are sane,’ she continued.

‘It was thorough and it was long, but it was very much worth it.’

The stewardess also said that the authenticity of Below Deck appealed to her more than the manufactured nature of some other reality shows.

‘It’s not like you’re these glamorised, fake people on this scripted show,’ she said.

‘Everything that happens on the show is real… we’re just real normal people trying to make a living and this is our job,’ she continued.

Izzy was born in New Zealand but raised in Australia from the age of four.

The brunette beauty entered the yachting industry four years ago as a way to travel and see the world.

She joins the season as a stewardess and is described by Bravo as someone who ‘takes her job seriously and hopes to form strong friendships on board.’
