Strictly painful! Ranvir Singh shows off her bandaged toes… then gets the boot from judges

It was a painful weekend for Ranvir Singh on Strictly Come Dancing.

Only hours before Saturday’s semi-final it seemed she might have a foot injury as she shared a picture of her bandaged toes during a visit to the show’s physiotherapist.

And on Sunday night she made a shock exit from the BBC1 show after her jive with dance partner Giovanni Pernice failed to impress the judges, who saved Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 43, had been a firm favourite to win this year after previously topping the leaderboard and avoiding the dance-off all series.

The picture she posted on Instagram on Saturday showed her feet with each toe individually bandaged.

She captioned it: ‘The magic of the BBC Strictly physio cannot be underestimated! Thanks Jen Nash.’

Referring to the look of her toes, she joked: ‘Don’t forget to get your pigs in blankets for Christmas dinner by the way.’

Her first dance on Saturday’s show, a waltz, went down well and earned her two nines and one eight, but her jive earned her only 18 points in total.

On Sunday night judge Motsi Mabuse voted to keep her in the competition, but Craig Revel Horwood and head judge Shirley Ballas chose to save Laing and dance partner Karen Hauer – who had been odds-on favourite to leave the competition after being in the dance-off four times.

Shirley said: ‘Musicality, determination, conviction from both teams, they just gave their all.

‘But I just feel that one couple had a little more determination, a little bit more “I’m not leaving without that trophy” and with that in mind I’m saving Jamie and Karen.’

EastEnders actress Maisie Smith, 19, who was just one point away from a perfect score for both of her dances, has also suffered painful injuries during training.

She said that she finds it difficult to stand up in the shower as her body aches so much after dancing all day and has a two-hour bath instead.

Maisie is now through to next Saturday’s final alongside Laing, YouTuber HRVY and comedian Bill Bailey and their professional partners.
