WarnerMedia says ‘remedial action has been taken’ after concluding investigation into Justice League

WarnerMedia has concluded its investigation into the Justice League production.

It comes after Cyborg actor Ray Fisher publicly accused filmmaker Joss Whedon and producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg of misconduct on set over the summer.

A statement released Friday by the media company read: ‘WarnerMedia’s investigation into the Justice League movie has concluded and remedial action has been taken.’

It wasn’t immediately clear what ‘remedial action’ was taken, but Fisher also took to Twitter with an update on the saga.

The 33-year-old wrote: ‘The following was relayed to me on behalf of @WarnerMedia at 5pm EST today: The investigation of Justice League is now complete. It has lead to remedial action. (Some we’ve seen, and some that is still to come.)’

He added: ‘And this statement (which truly belongs to ALL who participated in the investigation): “WarnerMedia appreciates you having the courage to come forward and assist the company with creating an inclusive and equitable work environment for it’s employees and partners.”

‘There are still conversations that need to be had and resolutions that need to be found. Thank you all for your support and encouragement on this journey. We are on our way. More soon. A>E’

Retracted praise: Fisher first raised concerns over Whedon on June 29, posting a video to Twitter of himself previously singing the director's praises, writing: 'I’d like to take a moment to forcefully retract every bit of this statement' (pictured in December, 2018)

Whedon stepped in to finish the superhero film in 2016, after director Zack Snyder was called away over a family emergency.

The Baltimore-born actor revealed on Twitter in August that the studio had launched an independent investigation after ‘five weeks of interviews’ with cast and crew.

There was later some public back-and-forth in September, when Fisher recounted a phone call he received from the president of DC Films, who ‘attempted to throw Joss Whedon and Jon Berg under the bus in hopes that I would relent on Geoff Johns. I will not.’

Warner Bros. subsequently accused Fisher of being uncooperative in the investigation, which he called a ‘desperate and scattershot attempt to discredit me to continue protecting those in power.’

He later revealed in now-removed quote from an interview with Forbes in October that his campaign against Whedon began after learning the director allegedly ‘ordered that the complexion of an actor of color be changed in post-production.’

The piece included other allegations of racist agendas on set, as he added: ‘The erasure of people of color from the 2017 theatrical version of Justice League was neither an accident nor coincidence.’

Whedon subsequently denied the accusations in a statement to Entertainment Weekly: ‘The individual who offered this statement acknowledged that this was just something that he had heard from someone else and accepted as truth, when in fact simple research would prove that it was false.’

Fisher starred as Cyborg in 2016’s film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, as well as the 2017 followup Justice League, and he’s contracted to appear in future titles, including a solo Cyborg film.
