A drunk Russian man had his nose bitten off by a horse when he tried to kiss the animal, having failed in making a pass at the female rider, according to reports. 

The 25-year-old had tried to romance the woman, who he saw on horseback in St Petersburg city centre, but his advances were turned down.

He is then said to have gone to kiss the horse instead, ‘despite the woman’s warnings that it may bite’, local news website Fontanka.ru reported today.

The animal then indeed responded by biting the unnamed man, who had to be taken to hospital for his injuries.

A graphic image purporting to show him, with his amputated nose covered in gauze, was posted by the Baza Telegram channel. 

Local reports said: ‘Police joked that the guy got off easy.

‘If he had come from the rear, the hoof injuries would have been much more severe than a cosmetic defect.’
