Strictly’s Maisie Smith rehearses until MIDNIGHT ahead of semi-final

Maisie Smith and her pro partner Gorka Marquez rehearsed until midnight on Tuesday ahead of Strictly Come Dancing’s semi-final on Saturday.

The EastEnders star, 19, and professional dancer, 30, will be performing two dances on the show – a Viennese Waltz to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri and a Couple’s Choice to Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It by Will Smith.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday night, the duo revealed that they were in agony after rehearsing until midnight.

Sharing a video, Gorka said: ‘She’s ready to go,’ to which Maisie replied: ‘I’ve got my coat on. It’s exactly midnight.’

The professional dancer then asked what time they were starting tomorrow to which Maisie replied 7am.

Gorka admitted: ‘My legs, my back, my shoulders, everything aches but it’s good’ with Maisie adding that her ‘belly’ hurts.

Yet despite being left exhausted from rehearsals, Maisie revealed that she was ‘happy’ and ‘over the moon’ with how their two dances were coming on.

It comes after Maisie revealed she has put on weight during her time on Strictly despite spending hours in intense rehearsals.

The EastEnders actress reckons she is the only celebrity contestant to put on weight while taking part in the show.

Speaking to Heat magazine, she said: ‘It’s weird. Everyone always says, “Going on this show, you’re just going to shed the weight.”‘

However, Maisie explained she is eating more food than ever before to make up for the energy she burns while dancing.

She said: ‘But I haven’t noticed that about myself because I eat triple the amount of food I was eating before. I think I’m the only celeb to actually put on weight.

‘Gorka and I have a bag of doughnuts every single day, so that’s probably not going to help. Fajitas and doughnuts, that’s my diet right now. That’s something of a balance, isn’t it?’

Maisie recently shared a very candid post discussing her body confidence struggles and revealing how she used to ‘hate’ her legs.

The TV star found support from an unlikely place after Khloe Kardashian commented on her Instagram post, praising her ‘envy worthy’ physique.

The surprised Strictly contestant took to social media on Sunday to share the sweet message she had been left by the reality star, 36, to which she replied: ‘Thanks chicken x’.

The Strictly semi-final week dances were revealed earlier this week as the remaining couples prepare to perform two routines for the first time on Saturday’s show.

Hot on the heels of HRVY’s ‘greatest of all time’ Couple’s Choice routine, his rumoured love interest and EastEnders star Maisie will perform the dance to Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It by Will Smith – alongside partner Gorka.

The couple will also dance the Viennese Waltz to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri.
