Yum! Maya Jama has revealed she often merges pasta and pizza together into one concoction

‘You know that sometimes you skip lunch and then you’re at home  and you’re like what do I fancy, pizza or pasta?

‘I ordered both once and was having a bite of one and a bite of another. And it ends up mashed up in your mouth.

‘So it was an accidental double up. So I thought why not skip the middle man and have a pasta-pizza-sarnie.’

Maya defended this, referencing the fact that garlic bread with pasta is a popular combo.

She did admit it can get ‘very drippy’ though.

‘Just have it all at once it tastes nicer!’ she concluded.

Maya was on the show to discuss the 2020 MOBO Awards, which she is hosting.

Of the ceremony, she said: ‘For a long time they were really the only awards show in the UK that were celebrating and championing black music and black culture and they’ve been pushing that for the longest.

‘It feels like now, the music industry especially, and everything since Black Lives Matter, people are starting to pay a lot more attention to the culture and are a lot more aware of what’s been going on.

‘But the MOBOs have been doing that for the longest.’

The ceremony hasn’t been held since 2017, but has returned this year.

‘They’re back now 2020, and it’s more important than ever for them to be back,’ Maya went on. ‘We have had horrible year, so many tragedies, so [many] sad things going on, it’s nice to have something that celebrates the positives and celebrates the good that’s been going on.’

Maya is up for a gong herself in the media personality category, along with the likes of Clara Amfo and Mo Gilligan.

But Maya insisted she doesn’t want to win.

‘Everyone on that list have had a such good year, most of them are my pals. I didn’t even put my thing up for people to vote for me because I don’t want to win that, there are others much more deserving than me,’ she said.

The MOBO Awards take place on 9 December, live-streamed for the very first time on YouTube at 7.00PM and broadcast on BBC One at 10.45PM.
