Miley Cyrus is ‘overwhelmed’ after rock album Plastic Hearts goes to number one in the country

Miley Cyrus released her new album Plastic Hearts on November 26th and it has already gone straight to number one.

On Monday the 28-year-old singer took to social media to share her excitement about topping the Billboard charts, as she thanked her fans and instrumental collaborators for helping her achieve success.

Sharing a candid video of herself on set in a studded vest and matching hat and gloves, Cyrus looked floored as she received the news in real time as she said, ‘What…no…you’re not for real…’

Number one: Miley Cyrus, 28, say her ‘mind is blown,’ after receiving the news that her album Plastic Hearts was the number one rock record in the country

In the video Cyrus could be seen going through the various stages of shock as she gasped with her mouth open as she told her people to ‘fact check’ it before they assured her it was true, as she covered her face with a bottle of soda.

Posting a handful of times to Instagram and Twitter, Cyrus carefully combed through every person who deserved recognition as she penned a few heartfelt captions.

‘It’s official. Plastic Hearts is the #1 rock record in the country. My mind is blown and my heart is overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank YOU to every creative collaborator involved on this project! If one person was missing I would not be writing this message.’

Starting the thank you tour off strong by thanking a handful of legends, she mentioned her ‘f***ing idols’ Joan Jett, Billy Idol and Stevie Nicks for their, ‘blessing, guidance, inspiration, and validation,’ as she said it meant everything to her.

‘Even though you 3 would tell me I do not need validation from anyone but my f***ing self. The confidence I have in who I am / what I am doing stems from the values instilled by looking up to you as my role models from the beginning.’

She then continued to break down how inspiring each of the three artists were to her as she praised them for presence in her life as both artists, mentors and and album collaborators.

‘JJ, I have you to thank for my love of leather, playing music at an unholy level of loud, and my uncompromising sense of self. I f***ing love you.’

‘Stevie, Your words have been coming out of my mouth since I can remember….but mine flowing from yours is still surreal. Your generosity is unrivaled. Thank you for lending your magic! I am forever your “smiley baby”…. I love you’

‘BILLY F***ING IDOL! We’ve been ‘rebel yelling’ since 2012 when I brought a photo of you to the salon and said ‘I wanna look like that’. You are brazen, bold, unapologetic, and authentic in a way that is my honor to witness. I appreciate you deeply.’

Famous friends were quick to comment on the post as Hailey Bieber wrote, ‘YAYYYY!!!!!!’ and Kylie Minogue wrote, ‘FACT(s)CHECK(ed).’

Fashion designer Jeremy Scott said, ‘YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN #1 IN MY HEART!’ and momager Tish Cyrus wrote, ‘Lets not forget your Mom taking you to your first ROCK concert which was your first concert!’

Going all out with her new rock and roll sound – which clearly paid off – the eccentric artist has been keen to reinvent herself after some troubling and lost teenage years.

Recently gracing the cover of Rolling Stone, Cyrus opened up about her past and her album process as she said, ‘I don’t ever know what kind of record I’m trying to make when I start making it…every record is storytelling.’

Speaking about Plastic Hearts she said, ‘I’m introducing my audience, my generation, to everything that inspired me and created this cocktail of chaos that I am.’

Her authenticity in the new record has now made her the fourth female artist in 2020 to lead Top Rock Albums in 2020, behind Fiona Apple, Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Alanis Morissette and was her highest Billboard ranking since 2013’s Bangerz.
