Mariah Carey teases the possibility of a movie based on her memoir: ‘We’re talking about some things’

Mariah Carey hinted that a movie of her memoir might be in the works during a very festive appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday night.

Jimmy asked the Elusive Chanteuse, 50, if the rumors were true that her bestselling book The Meaning Of Mariah Carey was going to be adapted into a movie or TV series.

‘We’re talking about some things,’ Mariah revealed. ‘I really feel like it should be, that was always my goal, but it was important to write the book first because there’s so much and then kind of pick and choose how we translate that.’

Jimmy followed up by asking about rumors that Lee Daniels, 60, was circling the project after working with Mariah on Precious and The Butler.

‘We love Lee, we love Lee. Lee is one of my dearest friends and he gets me in a way that most people don’t. But I’m not allowed to say yes, no, maybe so. Only Lee tells little leaks about things,’ Mariah teased.

The diva said that team was ‘figuring out different takes’ on casting.

‘As you know, there’s a lot of … they’re gonna have to have quite the range,’ she said, seeing as the book covers her life from childhood to the present.

During the chat Jimmy also congratulated Maria on the everlasting popularity of her 1994 song All I Want For Christmas Is You that reached Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2019 for the first time – 25 years after it was originally released.

‘What other songs are on your playlist?,’ Jimmy asked Mariah.

‘So many. Every year it’s a constant. No one that’s with me at Christmas is allowed to listen to anything but Christmas music until after New Year’s,’ Mariah said.

She volunteered to offer up a top three list of her favorite Christmas songs and started with This Christmas by Donny Hathaway, followed by Nat King Cole and The Christmas Song.
