Zac Efron shares behind-the-scenes photos from the South Australian set of his upcoming film Gold – as filming resumes after coronavirus lockdown

Zac Efron has shared a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of his upcoming Stan Original Film, Gold.

Posting to Instagram on Tuesday, the Hollywood hunk, 33, shared a photo of himself posing on set in the South Australian outback. 

Zac, who plays a competitive gold fossicker, was pictured sitting on the ground in the middle of a dusty plane.

Dressed in costume, the heart-throb held up what appeared to be a gold fossicking device as he shaded himself beneath a makeshift tent.  

‘No signal out here in the desert…,’ he captioned the image, alongside the hashtags: #goldonstan, #stanoriginals and #behindthescenes.

The High School Musical star also uploaded another photo to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday, which showed some of the film’s production crew.

Zac was sitting beneath his outback tent, surrounded by a camera operator and sound crew.

A production assistant was meanwhile busy sweeping clouds of dust into Zac’s shot using a large broom.   

Gold tells the story of two drifters who stumble across the biggest gold nugget ever found while exploring the outback.

According to Inside Film, Zac took over the lead role from Sam Worthington, who was originally slated to star in the movie.     

The film will also feature Australian actors Susie Porter and Anthony Hayes. 

Anthony, who is also directing the film, recently said of Zac’s casting: ‘To have Zac Efron as my main man on this film is an absolute gift, and to see what he is creating already is like nothing we’ve seen from him before. 

‘I can’t wait to deliver this bold, visceral and cinematic film to audiences all around the world.’
