Matthew McConaughey is spotted filming a Doritos commercial in LA… after blasting the ‘illiberal left’ in an interview with Russell Brand

Matthew McConaughey makes a fortune as an actor, but he also likes to pick up some side money now and then.

On Sunday afternoon, the 51-year-old actor was seen in Hollywood filming a commercial for Doritos.

The Interstellar star leaned against a wall and checked his phone while another actor spray painted around the scenery.

All right, all right: Matthew McConaughey was spotted in Hollywood on the set of a Doritos commercial on Sunday afternoon

The Dazed And Confused actor was spotted wearing a blue button-up shirt, along with a pair of beige jeans and grey sneakers; he allowed his hair to stay messy for the shoot.

Later on, the Academy Award-winning actor donned a large blue facial mask as he mingled with the rest of the commercial’s production crew.

The commercial comes not long after a widely publicized interview between McConaughey and Russell Brand on the latter’s podcast Under The Skin, where the actor discussed issues that he viewed as pertinent within the political sphere.

The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actor made a point of blasting what he referred to as the ‘illiberal left’ and their attitude towards those who do not agree with their viewpoints.

He stated: ‘There’s a lot [of voters] on that illiberal left that do condescend, patronize, and are arrogant towards that other 50 percent.’

McConaughey then discussed the perception that Hollywood has with much of America as a liberal stronghold and the perceived political attitude that comes along with being an actor.

‘That’s, you know, part of why so much of the nation, of that 50 percent looks at us in Hollywood and goes “yeah, that’s another celebrity over there, and the west coasters, and the elite in the northeast.”‘

He then opined that it would not be effective for individuals on the left to gloat in the light of Joe Biden’s victory in the past election, and that a meeting in the middle of the political spectrum would be a good place to construct a debate.

‘I almost feel like it’s a move to say, “Let’s get aggressively centric. I dare you.”‘

McConaughey then called for a reexamination of the values that underline American politics, and used the analogy of a basketball game to illustrate the combative quality that he sees as prevalent within modern politics.

‘We’re a nation…that cheers louder when our opponent misses a shot than we are happy when we make a shot.’

The native Texan has been very vocal about political matters recently, and has reportedly been considering a run for the governor of his home state.
