Elle Fanning hilariously recreates a childhood throwback with crazy morning hair

Elle Fanning showed off her goofy side, as she hilariously recreated a childhood snap of herself with crazy hair in front of a bowl of Cap’n Crunch Crunch cereal.

In the original photo of herself as a youngster, the child star can be sporting a white polo and metallic sweatpants as she looked less than thrilled to start her morning.

While glaring at the camera next to a pink blanket and stuffed dog, the actress’ long blonde locks were a tangled mess with both sides sticking out toward the ceiling.

‘Still wake up like this and still love captain crunch berries,’ the 22-year-old captioned her slideshow, which featured a current image of herself looking a tad unkempt.

For her latest selfie, Fanning furrowed her brows and pouted, as she rocked her natural curls, which she typically straightens by flat-ironing or with a blowdryer.

Like in her throwback, the beauty looked ready to crawl back to bed, while standing in front of a doorway in a light grey tank top.

Fanning, who began her acting career before her third birthday, has previously talked about being ‘made fun of’ as a schoolgirl for her ‘crazy outfits.’

‘When I was young, I was allowed to be eccentric,’ she told C magazine in September of her upbringing and rise to stardom.

The sister of Dakota Fanning shared: ‘My mom would let me put on crazy outfits and go to school. I think I had an appetite for it more than Dakota did.’

Elle dished: ‘There are things that I would wear, and she would say: ‘That looks insane.’ Kids definitely made fun of me, but I didn’t care.’

As for her current style: ‘I’m not usually the T-shirt and jeans type of girl. But I have a Gucci sweater that I can wear over it and Chanel loafers, so that’s OK.’

Her clothing hit the headlines last year when she fainted at Cannes and revealed it was because of her ‘time of the month’ along with how tight her Prada dress was.

Back in 2018, she felt pressured to adhere to old beauty ideals by straightening her naturally curly hair for her first day at public school.

She recalled to Glamour: ‘My hair is actually really curly, so I got it blown out straight, and I wore contacts—my eyes are terrible—and this one boy came to me on the playground and said, ‘You’re so beautiful. I’m going to marry you!’

‘Then the next day I washed my hair, so it was curly, and wore my glasses. And he told me, ‘I’m not going to marry you anymore.’ I’m like, What? All because of physical appearance? Heartbreaking,’ she joked.

Now, she can also be seen in a string of extravagant ensembles on her new darkly comic Hulu show The Great which she leads as Russian Empress Catherine II.

The series was created by Tony McNamara, co-writer of the similarly acid-tongued historical comedy The Favourite, who thought of Elle in the part.

She was similarly enthusiastic about his work saying when she read the script: ‘I just found it bonkers and incredible. It was so special. Tony’s writing is so against sappy or cliche. He’s very dry. We’ll have this romantic scene and snot will be coming out of Catherine’s nose. It’s with a bit of a wink.’

She was meant to be in Budapest filming, The Nightingale, with her elder sibling, 26, as sisters on camera for the first time, before the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

Although it was originally slated for release this year the coronavirus pandemic has caused it to be bumped to December 2021.

They previously worked together when Elle made her film debut as a younger version of Dakota’s character in the 2001 drama I Am Sam.

Over the summer, Elle told DuJour magazine that while she lives with her mother and grandmother in California when not filming, her sister, who usually lives in New York, also joined their household to quarantine.

‘It’s a rare occasion that we get to be together. So we’re enjoying each other’s company,’ she said.

As for activities, Elle has been keeping busy by learning TikTok dances – although ‘she won’t post them,’ and even dyed her hair pink.
