Keira Maguire says it’s ‘laughable’ that Jamie Doran is taking legal action over Bachelor edit

Reality TV veteran Keira Maguire has slammed Jamie Doran’s decision to take legal action over his ‘villain’ portrayal on this year’s Bachelor in Paradise.

On Wednesday, the 34-year-old said it was ‘laughable’ that the 40-year-old is suing over his ‘bad edit’, telling Daily Mail Australia that ‘you know what you’re getting yourself in for’ when you sign a contract for the show.

‘You pretty much are selling your soul to the devil,’ she said.

However, Keira has been very open about her thoughts on the show’s editing, saying that producers have gone ‘too far’ over the years – and believes this is to blame for the franchise’s decline.

‘They have taken it too far, in the respect that they are frankenbiting,’ she said, referring to the practice of piecing together clips that were not said in the same context.

Keira, who herself was portrayed as a villain on the show, added: ‘Some sentences that were coming out of my mouth… yes, it was my voice and the things that I said – but it wasn’t necessarily in that context.

‘The show needs to have a disclaimer that says “please be mindful that this isn’t exactly what happened, please just take it as entertainment value”.

‘I don’t care if you do it, just let people know if you’re doing it.’

The blonde startlet, who is dating Love Island’s Matt Zukowski, is currently partnering with nutrition brand Slim Secrets.

‘It fits in with my lifestyle perfectly,’ she says of the healthy snacks.

Channel 10 announced earlier this year that Bachelor in Paradise would not be returning for 2021, but could make a comeback in future. The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, however, will be returning next year.

It comes after Jamie confirmed he is pursuing a legal case against Warner Bros. Australia over what he claims is an unfair portrayal on Bachelor in Paradise and The Bachelorette.

While many dismissed his legal threat at the time, Jamie did end up hiring a lawyer, and it was rumoured in September that both parties are now trying to reach some kind of settlement.

In July, Jamie made announced his intention to take legal action against Channel 10 and Warner Bros on his Instagram page.

However, since making these claims, Jamie has only lodged official claims against Warner Bros., and not Channel 10.

‘Don’t assume that my legal case against Channel 10 and Warner Bros is built around an “edit”. It’s a lot more in-depth and there’s a lot more in play here,’ Jamie later said on social media in August.

He wrote: ‘This is not the news I wanted to post, but I feel I owe this to at least my family, friends, and also fans of The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise.

‘A “bad edit” should be the least of their problems moving forward.

‘I’m not going to comment on this any further for the time being and would appreciate it if people would respect my privacy.’
