Carol McGiffin left her Loose Women co-stars teary on Friday’s show as she surprised them live on-air.
The panellist, 60, made a secret return to the ITV studio after tricking Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore into thinking she was appearing via video from France, where she spent lockdown with her husband Mark Cassidy, 36.
As Nadia, 56, and Jane, 58, discussed Friday’s topics, Carol suddenly appeared on set as she shouted: ‘I’m back!’

Nadia was left screaming as she shouted: ‘No!’ while Jane was left both stunned and speechless by the big reveal.
Fellow panellist Kaye Adams, who was appearing via video from her home, was also left shocked by the surprise.
Carol started laughing as she exclaimed: ‘I’m back! You don’t look very pleased to see me!’
A teary-eyed Nadia put her hand over her mouth as she admitted: ‘Oh my God Carol, I just want to give you a hug.’

With Jane adding: ‘I’m actually tearful, I’m actually, oh my God what is going on? How, what? Where were you doing that in part one?’
At the start of the show, Carol had appeared via video with her co-stars thinking she was in France. She has appeared on the show during the coronavirus pandemic via video.
Yet the presenter had actually secretly returned to the UK two weeks earlier and had isolated in preparation of her big surprise in the studio.
Carol admitted that she had travelled back to England due to ‘personal and private reasons’, although she added that she was getting ‘very down’

Tears: A teary-eyed Nadia put her hand over her mouth as she admitted: ‘Oh my God Carol, I just want to give you a hug.’
Emotional: With Jane adding: ‘I’m actually tearful, I’m actually, oh my God what is going on? How, what? Where were you doing that in part one?’
She said: ‘I’ve been back for two weeks now… I lied, I’m really sorry. It wasn’t my idea to keep it a surprise. I’m back for personal reasons , private reasons and also for my own reasons. I was getting very down.’
To which Nadia joked: ‘We were talking about doing an intervention at some point. I could see you were really struggling with it.’
With Carol sweetly adding: ‘I am so excited and so nervous about today and I kind of lost my voice, I’m so happy to be here.’
Loose Women viewers were left equally delighted and teary over Carol’s return as they took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
