Woman, 25, whose £1,000-a-year ‘addiction’ to lash extensions

A woman whose ‘addiction’ to eyelash extensions pre-lockdown caused her natural ones to fall out has claimed they’re now longer than ever thanks to a £59 serum.

Alexis Canning, 25, a dancer from London, told how she used to spend around £1,000 a year on lash extensions, topping up with a new set every month.

But when lockdown hit in March and all the salons were forced to close, her infills gradually began to fall out.

After a few weeks she was left with none at all – and realised that her natural lashes had been reduced to ‘tiny stumps’.

After searching online for a product to help them grow back, she came across Revitalash, a lash conditioner which sells one every 33 seconds in the UK and is a beauty bag favourite among celebrities including Meghan Markle, Tess Daly and Kim Kardashian.

‘The results were crazy, I couldn’t believe it!’ she told FEMAIL. ‘My natural lashes honestly looked like they were extensions and I was obsessed with waking up every morning to see how they had grown and changed.

‘It’s now been eight months and I am still using that first tube – I took the leap and paid for their biggest bottle which was about £125 and would apparently last me around six months, so I have already saved myself hundreds of pounds.

‘I didn’t even take any notice when the salons finally opened again back in the summer, there was no way I would go back and trade my natural long lashes for false ones, my lashes are now better than any false ones.’

Alexis, who also works as a model, said she felt compelled to get a new set of lash extensions every month ‘without fail’ and had been doing so for a year before lockdown.

‘I was fully addicted to them and with my job always making me feel under pressure to look perfect and my very best, I would be going to the salon every week or so to have infills if only a few feel out,’ she admitted.

‘It was a little out of control and I would be spending almost £100 a month to have perfect long lashes. They would always fall out as I dance every day and sweat, so I would constantly have to get infills.

How does Revitalash work?

RevitaLash works as both a hair conditioner and growth serum.

It contains a blend of natural botanicals and its Signature BioPeptin Complex designed to addresses the visual signs of eyelash ageing and stress and protect against breakage and brittleness.

The ingredients promote hair growth and are high in antioxidants that help to strengthen and thicken hair.

‘When lockdown first hit back in March, much like everyone else I did think it would only be a few weeks or a month before we could head back to the salon.

‘A couple of weeks in my infills were falling out, but because I wasn’t wearing mascara every day I wasn’t paying too much attention – until one day I was filming some content for YouTube, and when I applied my mascara I realised I literally had no lashes and they were tiny stubs.

‘I was gutted, I knew it was time to ditch my lash habit and I started frantically Googling for cheap methods on how to kickstart growth!’

Alexis said she tried everything from castor oil to supplements but nothing worked.

‘I was starting to get very impatient,’ she recalled. ‘I then came across Revitalash. I’d seen it in the press linked to Meghan Markle so I knew it was going to be a good product, but I had always thought it was rather expensive – but compared to what I had been spending, it was a bit silly to even compare.’
