Mariah was on the breakfast show to promote her new Apple TV+ special – Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special.

‘I was in the New York apartment for the first four-to-five months of Covid with the kids and our little pod,’ the actress explained.

When panic buying first started, Mariah laughed as she recalled her reaction at the time: ‘all of a sudden I sat there and said “wait a minute – I better get Christmas decorations, because what if people get all the decorations?” of course, I was thinking about that in March.’

During the recorded chat, Mariah struggled to maintain eye contact with the main camera feeding into the Sunrise studio.

The pop star’s eyes would wander to her left as she spoke with an incredible white Christmas backdrop visible.

Mariah said she usually treats her nine-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, to Christmas festivities, Santa meetings and sledding each year, but the coronavirus pandemic has thrown a spanner in the works for the family.

‘I have no need to go anywhere, safety is more important,’ she said of trying to social distance amid the pandemic.
