Guy Pearce celebrates the 35th anniversary of his appearance on Neighbours with a heartfelt tribute
Guy Pearce is one of Australia’s biggest film exports, having starred in films such as The King’s Speech and Memento.
But the Hollywood star hasn’t forgotten the long-running Australian soap he got his start on 35 years ago.
Posting to Twitter on Wednesday, the 53-year-old shared a heartfelt tribute to Neighbours to celebrate the 35th anniversary of his appearance on the show.

‘Dec 2nd 1985. On this day 35 years ago I started filming a little TV show in Ramsey street,’ he wrote.
‘Some of you may have heard of it. I was just 18 and a tad nervous. I met wonderful people and have great memories. I’ll always appreciate this incredible opportunity. Thank u!! @neighbours’.
Guy played Mike Young on the show in the 1980s, alongside Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan.

Meanwhile, Guy is set to lend his voice to a brand new multimillion dollar animated movie that will feature the voices of some of the country’s biggest stars.
Netflix’s new flick – titled ‘Back To The Outback’ – will also star the likes of Isla Fisher, Keith Urban, Eric Bana and Tim Minchin, and is described as a ‘love letter’ to the country.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the hit movie is the story of a group of animals who escape from Sydney Zoo, and embark on an adventure to find a home away from humans.

Guy is set to appear as a funnel-web spider in the upcoming film, while Isla Fisher – who is currently in Sydney with her husband Sacha Baron Cohen – will star as a friendly snake called Maddie.
Keith Urban will lend his voice as a cane toad named Doug, and Tim Minchin will appear as a ‘cute but arrogant’ koala named Pretty Boy.
Legendary actor Eric Bana comes on board as a zookeeper named Chaz and Jackie Weaver will star as a crocodile named Jackie.
Due to COVID-19, many of the actors are recording from their homes around the world.
