Texas frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri claims she ‘got high with the whole of the Wu-Tang Clan’ while recording latest collaboration

Texas frontwoman Sharleen Spirteri has claimed she got high with the whole of the Wu-Tang Clan while recording their latest collaboration, Hi.

The singer, 53, worked with the hip-hop band 22 years ago on the hit Say What You Want, and has once again joined forces for Texas’ 10th album.

In an interview with The Sun, Sharleen said: ‘Releasing records again feels really strange, it’s really, really nerve-wracking. You’d think it would get easier, it actually gets harder. I guess as you get older you know how much is at stake.

Sharleen added the band have ‘never chased’ other artists to do collaborations and making music has been ‘very natural’.

MailOnline has contacted Wu-Tang Clan’s representatives for comment.

The album will be released next year and the band hope to go on tour, but Sharleen is worried a back injury she suffered in 2018 might cause problems.

‘I’m still having problems with my back. As soon as they’re able to, I’m probably going to have to go back into hospital to have more injections into my spine and my shoulder,’ she said.

Sharleen explained jumping around energetically on stage has caused the ‘biggest wear and tear on my spine’.

The new album comes two years after the band’s ninth record Jump On Board was released.

In that time Sharleen married her long-time partner Bryn Williams in a picturesque ceremony at St.Tyrnogs Church, Llandyrnog Denbighshire, Wales, in September 2018.

According to The Sun, the pair hosted a reception for 500 of their nearest and dearest in a marquee at their home. It is also reported that close pal Chris Evans gave the pair his Aston Martin DB9 to drive to the bash.

A source revealed to the publication: ‘It was the most beautiful day and even the grey skies and torrential rain didn’t put a dampener on things — everyone had a ball.

‘Their reception marquee was enormous and some of the locals were joking that it was the size of a football pitch’, they added.

Sharlene first announced her engagement to the culinary star in February 2017, after a decade of dating.
