An illegal rave organiser is facing a £10,000 fine after up to 80 people were found packed in his garage for a party.

Officers raided the illegal Chislehurst gathering at around midnight on Saturday after receiving calls from concerned neighbours.

Body-worn camera footage shows a policeman screaming, ‘everyone needs to start leaving now’ through the front door.

While one group immediately left, another attempted to hide in a different room.

Upon entering the home and discovering the second group, the officer shouts in disbelief: ‘Right, everyone’s got to leave. This is ridiculous. Come on. Out.’

Bleary eyed partygoers then slowly filter out of the address filled with bright fluorescent disco lights.

The rave organiser, a 35-year-old man, was identified and told enforcement action would be taken.

He now faces a possible £10,000 fine under coronavirus regulations.

The party took place in leafy Chislehurst in a road where houses sell for an average of £1.3million next to the Petts Wood and Hawkwood National Trust site.

Officers, who estimate between 60 to 80 people were present, managed to peacefully disperse everyone.

Chief Inspector Neil Jeffs of the Met Police’s South Area Basic Command Unit said: ‘This was a blatant attempt to breach the Coronavirus regulations and the behaviour of the organiser in this instance was unacceptable.

‘While some of the crowd left immediately, others tried to hide in a room in a forlorn attempt to evade officers.

‘We will continue to take tough action against those who selfishly fail to respect the regulations which the majority of Londoners have followed admirably.’
