George Clooney serenades Lorraine Kelly with his special birthday song

Lorraine Kelly was treated to the ultimate birthday gift on Monday as she revealed George Clooney serenaded her with the ‘Clooney birthday song’.

The TV host, who has just turned 61, revealed that head of film at ITV Nick Rylance managed to secure a special video message from the handsome A-lister. 

Lorraine revealed she was sat in her living room at home in her slippers with a cup of tea while listening to George sing her a happy birthday song.

Speaking to U.S. showbiz correspondent Ross King about the birthday present on Tuesday’s show, she said: ‘He sent me George Clooney, all wrapped up. George Clooney sang to me, let’s have a listen.’ 

They then played the clip of George, who told Lorraine: ‘We have a Clooney birthday song that we sing, it’s not the normal one and goes like this. 

‘They say it’s your birthday, That’s what we’ve been told. What a wonderful birthday, you’re another year old. On your cake they’ll be candles all covered it’s true and the whole world is singing happy birthday to you. See that’s a different birthday song!’

Lorraine then discussed the ‘surreal’ call, and said: ‘I was sitting in the living room in my slippers with a cup of tea and it was utterly surreal. What a delight, well we knew he was a delightful man but he just proves it time and time again!’ 

While Lorraine spent her birthday at home with husband, Steve, their daughter Rosie and their family dog Angus, she had something to say about Rita Ora’s lavish 30th birthday celebrations held over the weekend.

The singer has been slammed for a disregard of England’s current COVID-19 regulations by hosting a birthday party in West London on Saturday evening.     

30 people allegedly attended the secret bash at Notting Hill restaurant Casa Cruz, named after Chilean-born Juan Santa Cruz, who resigned as restaurateur in February. 

Lorrain and GMB star Piers Morgan were in a less than congratulatory mood as they discussed the breach on the programme. 

Wishing Lorraine a happy birthday, co-host Susanna Reid said: ‘It’s a shame we can’t come give you a hug and a kiss, although you’re probably glad you can’t get one from Piers. Are you having a small get together?’  

‘Yeah, it’s just what everyone is doing apart from Rita Ora,’ Lorraine replied. 

Evidently appalled by Rita’s decision to host a party for people outside her immediate social bubble, Piers carped: ‘These celebs, I’ll do what I want and no one else matters, I don’t get it… what’s the restaurant doing allowing all those people in?’

Lorraine, who admitted she will celebrate her special day at home with husband Steve Smith, added: ‘I could have 61 people for 61? That would be quite nice when it’s all over.’
