The Bachelorette’s Angie Kent reveals the shocking reason why she split from Carlin Sterritt

The Bachelorette star Angie Kent says she had no choice but to break up with Carlin Sterritt after realising their values were totally different.

Speaking about the couple’s split on The Kyle and Jackie O Show earlier this week, the 30-year-old admitted she couldn’t handle dating a Christian.

Angie, who classifies herself as ‘spiritual’ rather than atheist or agnostic, said their religious differences drove them apart.

The former couple had been vague when discussing their split four months ago, simply saying they values were ‘incompatible’.

When asked to specify what she meant, Angie told radio host Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson that she found Carlin’s ‘very religious’ beliefs quite confronting.

‘We were so smitten with each other on the show, but we were so different [in the real world]. Both of us were different,’ she said. 

While she didn’t mention a specific moment that made her realise her relationship was doomed, she hinted that Carlin wanted her to change her behaviour.

‘He was very religious and had all these ideas that I should be a certain way when I wasn’t,’ she said.

The former Gogglebox star went on to say that she didn’t want to be with somebody ‘who wants me to change. I want somebody to love me for me.’

As the conversation steered to her dating life now, Angie said she was single and had no romantic attachments.

‘I’m so boring. Carlin and I only broke up a few months ago, and I don’t want to jump straight into something else. I don’t know if I trust yet,’ she said.

Angie announced the pair’s split on Instagram in July, telling her followers: ‘Matters of the heart are extremely difficult and I’m sad to say that Carlin and I have broken up. 

‘I wish him nothing but the best in the future. I appreciate everyone’s concern and the investment that many of you made into the show and our story, but this is real life and we both need privacy and time to heal.’
