David posed with the medal on his chest in one photo, while another showed him beaming alongside his wife, Lisa.

Lisa wrote on Instagram: ‘To say I am proud of him would be an understatement.’

The TV presenter also uploaded a photo of the certificate he’d received, writing: ‘I received my Order of Australia this afternoon. I was so proud to stand on Gadigal land and represent the arts in a small way.

‘It was humbling to share the afternoon with members of the RFS, great community leaders and the one and only Tim Minchin.’
