ABC’s Spicks and Specks is returning to TV screens in 2021.

Adam Hills, who hosted the show during its original run between 2005 and 2011, followed by one-off specials in 2019 and 2020, will be back for a full season.

Adam will be joined by former team captains Alan Brough and Myf Warhurst in the reboot.

The new series was confirmed by the broadcaster during the 2021 Upfronts on Wednesday.

A premiere date for the new series, which will be 10 episodes, has yet to be announced.

Sharing his excitement on Twitter, host Adam wrote: ‘Some people made banana bread in lockdown, we made a new series of #SpicksAndSpecks. Coming to your Aussie screens in 2021.’

Back in April, Adam discussed the possibility of a Spicks and Specks reboot during an interview on The Green Room podcast.

‘There was talk of doing a series of ten at some point this year,’ Hills told host Neil Griffiths.

‘I don’t think we’d ever do 40 again. I think that just would take up too much time,’ he said.

During its original run, Spicks and Specks won the TV Week Logie Award for Most Outstanding Light Entertainment Program twice.

A staggering 1.569 million people tuned in to watch the finale in 2011, with the show averaging 1.35 million viewers an episode prior to that.

In 2014, the show briefly returned with Josh Earl as host and Adam Richard and Ella Hooper as team captains, but was axed due to low ratings.
