  •  A mum has revealed how she plans on stopping her kids from opening gifts
  •  She has wrapped empty boxes and placed them under the Christmas tree
  •  She wants the scheme to teach her three-year-old twins no to open presents

A mum has come up with a clever way to stop her three-year-old twins from prematurely opening the gifts sitting under the Christmas tree – without leaving the festive scene from looking too bare.

The Australian mum, who doesn’t quite trust one of her three-year-old twins to leave the presents alone, has recommended placing decoy presents under the canopy.

A mum has revealed how she plans to stop her three-year-old twins from finding out what she got them for Christmas – without ruining her festive styling with a bare tree

‘This is a test run to see if I can actually start wrapping and displaying presents,’ she said.

‘One of my three-year-old twins is a little monster,’ she explained.

‘All the boxes are empty so she will be very disappointed if she opens them.’

The mum stacked her fake presents under the tree – and they looked just like real gifts.

Other mums online praised the Christmas hack.

‘What a great idea – I am going to do this,’ one said.

‘My twins already failed, I have hidden mine in the closet,’ another mum said.

‘I did this and told my kids if they opened the box early the toy vanished and never came back, they tried it once and were devastated.’

Others use fake presents as an anti-reward system.

‘i have these and throw them in the rubbish if they don’t behave,’ one mum said.

‘My three-year-old has been an angel. My two-year-old is down three fake presents.’
