Grammy nominations 2021: Flume, Tame Impala, Hillsong lead Australian nominees

Flume and Tame Impala lead the Australian Grammy nominees – as the Hillsong Church competes against Kayne West for Best Christian Album

Australian musicians Tame Impala and Flume have been nominated for Grammy Awards.

Tame Impala’s album The Slow Rush has been nominated for Best Alternative Album, and their song Lost in Yesterday is also up for Best Rock Song.

Flume’s The Difference ft. Toro y Moi has been nominated for Best Dance Recording.

Australian church Hillsong is also up against the likes of Cody Carnes and Kayne West in the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album category.

The 2021 Grammy Awards will air on CBS on January 31 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The announcement comes as Tame Impala prepare to hit the stage at the ARIA Awards on Wednesday night.

The band are also up for Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Pop Release, Best Rock Album, Engineer of the Year, Producer of the Year and Best Video at the ARIAs.

Meanwhile, Sydney duo Lime Cordiale have received a whopping eight ARIA nominations, including Breakthrough Artist and Album of the Year.

Sampa the Great received six, while DMA’s and Miiesha had five nominations each.

After scooping four ARIAs last year, Tones and I is nominated in the Best Female Artist category alongside the likes of Sia and Amy Shark.

For the first time, there will be an official ARIA pre-show streamed on YouTube, which will include exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

The winner of Song of the Year and Best Video, both presented by YouTube Music, will be determined by public vote.
