ARIA Awards 2020: Australian audiences slam international viewers who want Harry Styles

Archie Roach’s induction into the ARIA Hall Of Fame was the most touching moment during the Australian Recording Industry Association Awards 2020 on Wednesday.

But online, some international viewers watching via livestream on YouTube appeared bored by the momentous occasion celebrating the legendary singer-songwriter’s lifetime achievement.

‘I’m sorry but the #ARIAs are just too long and tbh kinda boring, I just wanna go to sleep so please announce international artist so I can finally sleep,’ tweeted one viewer streaming the awards.

‘No sorry, the ARIAS aren’t going to “skip” this’: Australians have slammed international viewers for wanting to ‘skip’ the moment Archie Roach [pictured] was inducted into the Hall Of Fame during the Australian Recording Industry Association Awards 2020 on Wednesday

‘This is honestly the most boring and depressing #ARIAs ever. Guess it fits 2020!’ wrote another, as others fans kept asking: ‘Where is Harry?’

Australian audiences were not having any of it and were ‘disgusted’ by the lack of respect shown to the 64-year-old music icon.

‘No sorry, the ARIAS aren’t going to “skip to Harry’s part”,’ began one viewer.

‘This is a celebration of Australian artists. Just be patient and wait,’ they added, referring to British artist Harry Styles.

‘I’m disgusted at the international viewers are saying on the arias tag about Australian musicians, and now with the degradation of Archie Roach and his history.

‘If you cannot respect our industry, get lost,’ another added.

‘The disrespect to the indigenous community by the international community is appalling,’ another viewer shared.
