Carrie said in a statement that connecting with listeners is one of her ‘greatest joys’, adding that she’s ‘excited’ about the extended show.

She continued: ‘2020 has been a strange old year but one of the greatest joys has been the chance to connect with our listeners and provide them with the opportunity for a couple of hours of escapism, great tunes and big laughs.

‘We love that privilege and are really excited about returning in 2021 as the Hit Network’s drive show.’

It comes after Southern Cross Austereo announced the hosts of 2Day FM’s new Sydney breakfast show: Hughesy, Ed and newcomer Erin Molan.

The new format, known as The Morning Crew, will replace Music For Breakfast, the music-only show fronted by Jamie Angel since August 2019.

While Hughesy and Ed have been with the network for some time, Erin is being drafted in from Nine Radio, where she was known for her sports coverage on 2GB.

Despite quitting Nine Radio, Erin will continue to be employed by Channel Nine.

‘Erin remains with Nine’s television business. She is leaving Nine Radio and leaves with our best wishes as we didn’t want to stand between her and what is a great opportunity,’ said a network spokesperson.
