Shannon Noll recalls heroic moment he saved terrified backpackers from a HUGE SNAKE at a local gig 

Shannon Noll saved a group of terrified backpackers from a large snake on Monday.

The Australian Idol star was filmed wrangling the slippery creature without shoes or a shirt near a pub on New South Wales’ Mid North Coast.

‘He was out the back of the @hoeymoey scaring the c**p out of all the backpackers, so I moved him to a safe place,’ Shannon, 45, told fans on Instagram.

Posing for a photo with the large snake, Shannon looked like a seasoned snake catcher as he grinned while holding the reptile by its tail and neck.

The What About Me? singer cheekily joked in his caption: ‘This big fella was trying to get into the show without a ticket!’

On Channel Seven’s Sunrise on Tuesday, he recalled the heroic moment he stepped in to remove the snake from the address.

‘I’ve done it a couple of times, mate,’ Shannon told host David ‘Kochie’ Koch.

‘I just thought, keep away from the sharp end mainly, but he was giving the boys a bit of a fright. Obviously, they’d probably never seen something like that before.’

Shannon said he only volunteered to catch and release the snake elsewhere because he didn’t feel threatened. 

‘I wouldn’t have been going anywhere near it if it was a brown or a taipan[both highly venomous snakes] or anything like that. I knew if he bit me, I’d just draw a bit of blood, but that’s about it,’ he said.

Taunting or attempting to catch snakes is a dangerous game, Daily Mail Australia advises the public to seek the assistance of a professional where possible.

Shannon was on Seven’s breakfast program to promote his new single, Wonderful, out on Friday. 

He is currently on tour across New South Wales, and has more dates set for Victoria, Queensland and Tasmania in 2021.
