Married At First Sight star Davina Rankin shares her parenting dilemma

She recently threw a lavish party to celebrate her daughter Mila-Mae’s first birthday.

And almost two weeks after the celebration, Davina Rankin has revealed that parenting is not always as glamorous as it appears on social media.

The former Married At First Sight star, 29, is having difficulties co-sleeping with her ‘little angel’, whom she shares with her fiancé Jaxon Manuel.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, she asked her followers for advice on co-sleeping in bed with a child after she and Jaxon were ‘kicked out’ several nights earlier. 

‘⁣Jax and I are forever trying to entice Mila to snuggle up in bed with us. But Little Miss Independent literally blows us kisses, says “bubbye” and points to her cot every single night,’ Davina wrote in the caption. 

‘Except for Friday night. ⁣⁣We put her down but about 20 minutes later she called out for me so I picked her up and she was quite awake, so I brought her in our bed for a little play (which happens sometimes if she isn’t quite ready for sleep).

‘⁣A few seconds later we realised she fell asleep. As you could imagine we were so stoked to have our little girl sleeping next to us for the first time! 

‘Fast-forward an hour, I get kicked out to the couch. ⁣Fast-forward three hours, Jaxon ends up on the ground.’

The brunette, who rose to fame on Married At First Sight’s fifth season in 2018, then asked other parents for tips on co-sleeping.

‘Or is it easy sleeping next to them?’ she asked. ‘I’m genuinely so interested! I would love to snuggle her every night but, my gosh, I don’t think I would ever get any sleep.’

Her post attracted a range of responses, with some mothers revealing they never had an issue while others said their children took up too much space in bed.

‘Daddy is in a whole other bed and I sleep on the smallest slice of my queen-size bed while my toddler has the rest,’ one follower commented.

‘I’ve slept with mine for eight years. It’s a beautiful combination of heaven and torture, but I treasure the time,’ another said. 

‘I co-slept and now I don’t remember the kicks or the uncomfortable nights. I just remember the beautiful cuddles and hands looking for your face,’ a third added.

Davina’s post comes after she celebrated Mila-Mae’s first birthday on November 14 with a lavish party. 

‘Still pinching myself at how beautiful it was celebrating our little angel’s first birthday with our closest family and friends,’ Davina wrote on Instagram.
