Jillian Bell tries to put her early godmother skills to the test to help a woman turn her life around in the first trailer for Godmothered.

Bell stars Eleanor, a new godmother in training who learns that fairy godmothers are about to become extinct.

The determined godmother trainee tries to prove that the world needs fairy godmothers, by improving the life of a woman named Mackenzie (Isla Fisher).

The trailer begins with Eleanor being introduced by Agnes (June Squibb), who describes her as, ‘the motherland’s youngest trainee.’

Agnes adds that ‘all she wanted to be was a real fairy godmother,’ as we see her begin training from Moira (Jane Curtin).

Moira has the whole class – filled with much older women than Eleanor – ‘a glittery gown turns a frown upside down.’

Eleanor says she’s going to ‘prove the world still needs fairy godmothers’ as she heads out into the ‘real world.’

The godmother-to-be heads off in search of Mackenzie, after finding a letter that the 10-year-old Mackenzie wrote, not realizing she’s now 40.

Eleanor gets some help from a trucker who looks up Mackenzie’s name with Siri, though Eleanor thinks it’s a ‘genie’ talking from the phone.

Needless to say, Eleanor is quite stunned when she sees Mackenzie is a grown woman, though she still persists, telling Mackenzie she’s her fairy godmother.

Eleanor finds a photo of Mackenzie’s ex and asks if it’s her ‘true love,’ and she dryly responds, ‘Not anymore,’ adding, ‘Life isn’t always a fairy tale.’

Eleanor decides to give Mackenzie a magical makeover, though that goes awry as well, as she accidentally turned her dog into a pig.

Mackenzie tells Eleanor that she knows she just wants to help, but, ‘life isn’t as simple as happily ever after.’

Eleanor retorts that, ‘After all, nine out of 10 fairy tales begin with “Once upon a time something amazing happened while she was drinking wine in her sweatpants.’

Eleanor starts to realize how magical the real world is as well, adding, ‘I’ve been trapped in the fairy tale when the real world is so much more.’

The trailer ends with a scene in a bathroom where Eleanor asks Mackenzie if she can make her a ‘ball gown’ before she goes.

While Mackenzie declines, Eleanor does it anyway, and magically creates and elaborate red gown.

Godmothered, which also stars Santiago Cabrera, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Stephnie Weir and Artemis Pebdani, will be available to stream December 4 on Disney Plus.
