The diver has been keeping busy amid the coronavirus pandemic, as he has also been flaunting his impressive knitting creations on a new Instagram page.

He took to his Instagram Stories last month to reveal he had crocheted his own pair of swimming trunks.

Tom shared a variety of snaps of himself sporting the trunks above a swimming pool, which were navy with yellow stripes.

Alongside the post, he wrote: ‘I finally made some crochet trunks!’

He added: ‘I couldn’t help but share these trunks I made. They are my first attempt at crochet trunks and I am sure I will get better.’

It recently emerged Tom had started showing off his colourful creations on a new Instagram account leading to speculation that he could be turning it into a business venture.

The @madewithlovebytomdaley account also shows pink baby booties and the toddler’s blue bobble hat. But it is unclear if fans will be able to buy his creations.

The two-time Olympic bronze medallist started knitting to help him relax during lockdown.

Tom previously said: ‘Worrying about when things might go back to normal can be exhausting.

‘My happy place is now on the sofa with knitting needles.’

But he admitted his screenwriter husband, Dustin Lance Black, 46, joked that being with him was like being wed to a grandmother.

Tom married Dustin back in 2017 after two years of dating, and they are parents to son Robbie, two, born via a surrogate.

He has discussed ‘coming out’ in a new book by Andrew Gelwicks, The Queer Advantage: Conversations with LGBTQ+ Leaders on the Power of Identity.

The athlete revealed his sexuality in a YouTube video in 2013, calling it ‘one of the scariest things to have to do’, in an extract from the book, shared by Glamour.

When asked if he feels as though top heterosexual athletes treat him as an equal, Tom said he hadn’t felt any differential treatment, but felt like one of the lucky ones.

But he admitted that ‘growing up as a queer person’ had been ‘challenging’.

He said: ‘You are always told that you are different and you are less than. That automatically puts you on the back foot and you have to work even harder to prove yourself.

‘Those challenges and obstacles are what have shaped me as an athlete.’

Tom added that when you ‘have to work harder’ when you are seen as an ‘outsider’.
