Strictly’s Jamie Laing jokes viewers mistake him for partner Karen Hauer when they’re dancing due to their matching haircuts

Jamie Laing joked about his and his dance partner Karen Hauer’s matching hairstyles as he appeared on BBC Breakfast on Thursday.

The Made In Chelsea star, 32, was asked if they had planned to both sport beach blond buzzcuts with a small quiff during the competition.

Laughing, Jamie said the identical haircuts means viewers could potentially confuse him for Karen, 38, on the dance floor.

When asked if they co-ordinated their hairstyles for the show, Jamie said: ‘We didn’t. We didn’t.

‘I think the good news is some people mistake me for Karen when we’re dancing so they may think I’m as good as Karen. I’m totally not.

She is the most incredible dancer. But we do have matching haircuts which kind of works in a weird kind of way. It’s cool. We look like Power Rangers together or something like that.’

Earlier this week, the routines for week five of Strictly were revealed, as the remaining eight couples reached the halfway stage of the competition.

After earning their highest score yet, Jamie and Karen will take on a Couple’s Choice to the funky hit Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) by C+C Music Factory when they take to the floor on Saturday.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Karen shared a behind-the-scenes look at their dance rehearsals as they worked with the choreographers for the upcoming dance.

Meanwhile, Maisie and Gorka Marquez will head back to Latin to dance a Salsa after dodging elimination, as she won against Max George and Dianne Buswell.

Jamie’s appearance comes shortly after she revealed the health battle he overcame to make it to the Strictly Come Dancing live shows.

Jamie candidly revealed that he had to endure months of treatment for irritable bowel syndrome, and also had to heal from his foot injury, which he sustained in last year’s debut Strictly show – forcing him to pull out.

Jamie embarked on a four-month intense probiotic course in a bid to improve his gut biome and alleviate the symptoms that could hinder his dancing performances.

The reality star also had an embarrassing moment when he experienced an IBS flare up during a house viewing.

He recalled on his Private Parts podcast in 2019: ‘I was trying to sell my flat but I had to poo, and I ran out the door and they were walking in…

‘I was like “Oh god they’re going to go in the bathroom, please don’t go in the bathroom,” and then I couldn’t go back in.’

IBS can cause a variety of symptoms including stomach cramps, bloating, excessive wind, and diarrhoea.
