Sophie Monk reveals the bizarre reason she decided to get a white Christmas tree instead of a traditional green one
Sophie Monk has detailed the moment she decided to get a white Christmas tree because it looked ‘rich’.
But on Thursday, the 40-year-old revealed she may have made the wrong choice as her house now looks like a ‘retirement home’.
‘I saw it in Myer years ago and thought “that looks so rich”,’ the Love Island Australia host confessed to Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on KIIS 106.5.

‘I was like “Look at that”… [but the result] it looks like a retirement home.
‘I did a poll to show the results and everyone was pretty much like, “Nah”.’
The blonde beauty added that she made the plunge from green to white after seeing the tree at Big W for $65.
‘I saw it in Myer years ago and thought “that looks so rich”,’ Sophie said with a laugh
‘That’s where I went wrong. I’m not saying Big W is bad but it was 65 bucks and I thought I’d give it a go and pretty much, yeah, I went to a poll on Instagram and they said, “Nah, it’s crap”,’ Sophie said.
Her confession follows the ‘self-confessed bogan’ revealing there was plenty of debate with boyfriend Joshua Gross in the lead up to purchasing the white number.
Sophie shared a clip of herself happily singing ‘Silent Night’ in the car with the Christmas tree box in between her legs on her Instagram Story.

She also posted a picture of the tree complete with fairy lights, silver baubles and shimmering baubles.
However, Joshua confirmed Sophie barely helped with setting up and decorating the tree – and all the work was, in fact, done by himself.
He shared a time lapse video of himself assembling and decorating it, and at the very end of the clip, Sophie was seen putting the star at the top to finish it off.
‘Soph wanted white, I wanted green. We compromised. We went with white,’ he captioned his post on Instagram on Tuesday.
