I’m A Celebrity 2020: ‘It concerns me that it was THAT easy!’ Viewers floored as Ruthie and Russell convince their campmates that Shakespeare’s first name was WALTER

Thursday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity saw a creepy jester set newcomers Russell Watson and Ruthie Henshaw sneaky secret challenges.

And the duo, both aged 53, were tasked with convincing their campmates to select the wrong answer to the question asked at the end of the castle coin challenge.

Viewers were floored when the singer and the West End star didn’t struggle to get their fellow celebs to believe that Shakespeare’s first name was WALTER.

The stars of the show were asked to decide the famous playwright’s moniker, and despite it being William, quickly accepted Russell’s ‘belief’ that it was in fact Walter.

Taking to social media, viewers poked fun at how gullible the campmates were, with one person tweeting: ‘The man, the myth, the legend that is Walter Shakespeare.’

‘It concerns me that it was THAT easy to convince them that he was baptised Walter Shakespeare,’ admitted another.

‘How can a group of grown adults accept the answer Walter Shakespeare without question?’ asked someone else.

One fan of the show admitted: ‘Didn’t expect Ruth and Russell to convince the campmates that the answer was Walter that fast’

‘Aah yes, that famous playwright Walter Shakespeare’ joked another, while someone else voiced their disbelief, tweeting: ‘ITS THE WAY NOBODY QUESTIONED RUSSELL’S ANSWER OF WALTER.’

The Shakespeare incident came after Ruthie managed to convince Jordan North, 30, to massage her bare feet, to which he courteously obliged.

Viewers praised the BBC Radio One DJ for being ‘such a nice lad’ and were then left in hysterics as he swiftly sanitised his hands, with a disgusted look across his face.

Taking to social media, fans could not contain their joy over the kind-hearted yet hilarious interaction.

Jordan has quickly become a fan favourite since I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! began airing, and has been voted to do every trial so far.

Luckily on Wednesday, he was given a night off as show newcomers Russell and Ruthie were initiated into camp by taking on the trial.
