Cowboy Bebop casts six more actors alongside star John Cho for Netflix’s live action adaptation of revered anime series

Filming of the Netflix series was first put on hold after star John Cho injured his knee on set in 2019, before the hiatus was extended thanks to the pandemic.

But now that filming has resumed in New Zealand on Cowboy Bebop, the live action adaptation has announced six new cast members, Deadline reported Thursday.

Geoff Stults, Tamara Tunie, Mason Alexander Park, Rachel House, Ann Truong and Hoa Xuande have all joined the streaming series.

Filming on the live-action adaptation of a popular 1990s Japanese anime series about bounty hunters in space originally shut down in October 2019.

The break was on account of John Cho’s on-set knee injury, which required him to have surgery.

The initially anticipated seven to nine month break was extended until September 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bebop was granted a border exemption by the New Zealand government in July to resume production within the country, according to Deadline.

The original animated series takes place in the year 2071 and consists of 26 episodes. Netflix has ordered a 10-episode premiere season of the live-action remake.

Cowboy Bebop was lauded by critics after it burst onto the scene in Japan in 1998, and it was then introduced by American audiences by Adult Swim in 2001.

Along with John, the cast of the new Cowboy Bebop includes The Boys actor Alex Hassell and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom actress Daniella Pineda.

Revenge alumna Elena Satine and The Deuce actor Mustafa Shakir will also be featuring in the live-action version of the show.
