Sam Frost sparks debate after asking her fans what they call pencils

Home and Away star Sam Frost sparked an interesting debate on Tuesday when she asked fans what they call a lead pencil.

The actress, 31, created a poll on Instagram, asking her followers whether they refer to pencils as ‘grey lead pencils’.

‘Quick poll to save a household debate. Do you call this a “grey lead pencil” or are you very non-specific and just call it a “pencil”?’ she wrote.

After 77 per cent of her fans revealed they call it a pencil, Sam wrote: ‘I call it ‘a grey lead pencil and Mads found it really amusing… and called me a weirdo Melbournian’.

‘So second poll for those who voted grey lead. Is it a Melbourne thing or a regular human thing?’

Sam’s new poll revealed 65 per cent of her followers believe Melbournians are the only ones who refer to pencils as ‘grey lead pencils’.

This comes after Sam revealed the bittersweet promise she made to her ‘best friend’ Dave Bashford after they broke up.

The couple, who had previously been friends for years before getting together, split in July after almost three years.

‘Dave’s an amazing person and that’s never going to change,’ the Home and Away star, 31, told TV Week of their relationship. 

‘It wasn’t an ugly or messy break-up; it was just two people who love each other dearly as friends, and we promised to look after each other,’ she added.

‘Dave is one of my best friends and for me, we will always support each other, so it was easy. We knew there was a lot of speculation,’ she said.

Sam went through two public splits before ending things with Dave: the first was with Blake Garvey in 2014, and the second was with Sasha Mielczarek in 2016.
