Great British Bake Off 2018 star Manon Lagrève announces she’s ENGAGED to boyfriend Luke following idyllic Barbados proposal

Great British Bake Off star Manon Lagrève is engaged to her boyfriend Luke after he popped the question in Barbados.

The French baker, 28, who left the show in week eight in 2018, delightedly confirmed that he had ‘dropped to one knee’ with a stunning sapphire ring shortly after they arrived at their boutique hotel during the Caribbean holiday.

Not wasting anytime, she revealed they are planning to tie the knot next year in her hometown of Louvigné-De-Désert, Brittany.

Manon took to Instagram to show off her ring, which she admitted she had been ‘terrible’ at hiding, and thanked her followers for their congratulations. 

Gushing about the proposal to Hello! Magazine, she said: ‘Not long after we arrived at our beautiful boutique hotel by the sea, I was being nosy, looking around our kitchen and Luke crept up behind me and dropped to one knee’. 

She admitted it had not been a surprise, saying: ‘We’d been talking about getting married for a while. It was love at first sight…

‘We were boyfriend and girlfriend after two weeks and I moved in with him within four months. When you find the one, you just know.’

On the wedding, she went on: ‘I’ve always pictured my wedding taking place where my parents got married’, as she detailed her dreams of a Catholic ceremony with a ceremony packed with games, local food and wine from my Uncle’s vineyard’. 

Manon caused shockwaves when she exited Bake Off two years ago, as viewers were left outraged when she was sent home, with many calling the show of a fix.

She was the eighth contestant to leave the tent during Danish week after judged Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith criticised her French baking methods.

However, viewers were baffled by her shock exit with many agreeing that it should have been fellow baker Rahul Mandal who was sent home after he under performed in all three challenge.

In an interview ahead of her appearance on the show, Ms Lagreve said she applied for Bake Off because it was one of the first shows she watched on TV when she came to England.

She learned to bake from her mother and grandmother, and found her passion for baking after arriving in London.
