Rio Ferdinand ‘loves’ pregnant Kate’s changing body as couple reveal they will not show son online

Rio Ferdinand ‘loves’ pregnant wife Kate’s changing body – as the couple reveal they will not be showing their son’s face on social media.

Former TOWIE star Kate, 29, who’s expecting her first baby with the ex-Manchester United defender, 42, felt unnerved during her first trimester but now she’s grown to love her pregnant body.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Rio couldn’t resist sharing his admiration for Kate’s figure, saying he also adores how her body has changed during pregnancy.

Kate said: ‘When you’re in it you worry about everything but from the outside everyone thinks you look really good.

‘It’s growing to love your changing body. At the beginning, in the first trimester I was a bit nervous about everything but as time has gone on, I am growing to love my changing body so much more.’

Rio added: ‘As do I, as do I!’

Kate, who’s taken on Rio’s three children, Lorenz, 14, Tate, 12, and Tia, nine, following their mum Rebecca’s passing in May 2015, said she and the former England captain have decided they will not show their son’s face on social media once he’s born.

Kate, who is due before the end of the year, said: ‘We have thought about that.

‘All of our children will be treated the same – it will be the same as the other three children, his face will be kept private, so he can relax and enjoy life without the pressures of social media.’

While becoming a stepfamily has its challenges for any married couple, cruel trolls, who she does her best to ignore, regularly confront Kate.

A few weeks ago, Kate shared a recent picture of her from holiday with the caption: ‘One of my favourite days of this year, out at sea with the family… no worries, happy and stress free.’

One troll commented: ‘Rebecca’s family. I’m all for step mums etc. And you’ve stepped into a massive hole. But those kids are Rebecca’s and they’ll not thank you for saying otherwise.’

The TV star hit back: ‘Wow, very narrow-minded. Rebecca is their mum and forever will be – a mother can never be replaced. But let me clarify, WE ARE family, families aren’t just about blood, but who is there for us and loves us conditionally.’

Kate told MailOnline: ‘Trolls are always going to be there and normally I ignore them but every now and then, I can’t help myself. I actually replied to one the other day.

‘I’ve got to be honest, I did and I haven’t done that for about a year or so. Sometimes you just think “go away will you.” I do try to ignore it, most of the time, and just switch off because it’s not good to let it consume you but I did end up replying to one the other day and I did feel better for doing it!’

Kate found fame on TOWIE in 2015, and then quit in 2017, shortly after meeting Rio during a Dubai holiday.

As a former reality star and influencer with 1.3million followers, Kate often shows off her gym honed bikini body on Instagram, which she previously owed to her extensive fitness regime.

Now that her workouts have eased slightly due to being pregnant, Kate has reflected on her former dedication to the gym and concluded: ‘I was a bit of a machine.’

She explained: ‘I am really into my fitness but it has changed a lot.

‘Before I was pregnant it was very high intensity, heavy weights, looking back I was a bit of a machine. It’s nothing like that now.

‘I’ve been doing Pilates once or twice a week on the reformer and I’ve also been doing prenatal sessions that are quite slow, just moving, stretching, very light work, just to keep moving because all the doctors have advised me the more you move, the better.

‘For me, it is mental. I do feel better after I’ve had a work out or done something other than sit down.’

Kate’s second collection with Dare 2b, which is available to buy from Tuesday, features a range of clothing, including sports bras and vests, and for the first time maternity leggings, that have been designed to give comfort for pre-natal workouts.

Kate said shooting for the new range was daunting at first, as she was photographed for the first time with her growing bump on show – but it ended up being one of her most loved experiences in front of the camera.

She said: ‘I was a little bit nervous because everything has just changed.

‘Even getting changed day to day, your body is really different so things you would normally wear don’t suit you so I was a bit nervous about getting in front of the camera.

‘But actually, it was probably one of the most relaxed shoots I’ve ever done. I felt really happy, I was worried about what I looked like, because I suffer with IBS, usually I’m a bit bloated, I felt quite relaxed, which was a surprise. I was anxious going to it but I left happy.’

Speaking about her new collection, which has been created for all different shapes and sizes, Kate added: ‘The range has some really nice stretchy maternity leggings; something I really struggled to find at the beginning was a jumper.

‘I couldn’t find a nice jumper so there’s a nice one in there, which is my favourite and I have on right this second. All I do is wear gym clothes because that’s most comfortable day to day.

‘We’ve got new maternity pieces and some bits for all different shapes and sizes. Especially for me being pregnant, it’s all about being comfortable and being able to move and not having anything too tight on.’
