Amanda Holden shocks Heart FM listeners with her absolutely uncanny Margaret Thatcher impression

Amanda Holden has shocked Heart FM listeners with her impressive Margaret Thatcher impression.

The radio host, 49, performed the uncanny impersonation on the breakfast show on Tuesday, which she co-hosts with Jamie Theakston, 49.

They were talking with showbiz reporter Ashley Roberts, 39, about the new series of Netflix’s The Crown.

Getting into character, Amanda said: ‘I really like her [Gillian Anderson] as Margaret Thatcher.’

Ashley then responds: ‘Oh my god, that’s so good!’

The former Wild At Heart actress explained: ‘I used to do that when I was eight – only with Gladys Pugh from Hi-De-Hi.’

Amanda explained that every word Thatcher said was ‘measured’ and added it was with a ‘slight head tilt’.

Over the weekend, Amanda celebrated the success of her new album Songs From My Heart, which was released in October.

Writing on Instagram, she said: ‘Thank you everyone for making “Songs From My Heart” the biggest selling debut album by a female artist this year so far!!!’

She cryptically added: ‘I’ve got a little surprise that I can’t wait to share with you in a couple of weeks…’

The star has been busy back to work filming a new project after the Britain’s Got Talent live final which she has been teasing to social media.

Last month it was claimed Amanda and her BGT judge Alesha Dixon have been drawn into a gender pay gap dispute as Simon Cowell and David Walliams are paid more than double their salary.

The pair are said to be unhappy with the fact they earn so much less even though they take on the same role, with a source telling MailOnline it is ‘shocking’ that this is the case.

An industry source hit out: ‘In 2020 all judges should be on equal pay. After 14 years of service by Amanda and 8 years of service by Alesha it’s shocking that both girls are paid less than David. Why, because he’s a man?’

According to a report from The Sun, Amanda – who took on the role of Head Judge in Simon’s absence during the recent series – earns around £700,000 while Alesha is said to make £450,000.

Meanwhile, it was alleged that David re-negotiated his contract for the show and is now earning more than £1.5 million for his appearance.

Simon, who helped create the show, is reportedly being paid a staggering £2.5 million for his part on the show, though Ashley Banjo took over his seat for the most recent series following his back injury.

A source speaking to the publication claimed that Simon was unaware his wage was so much higher than his fellow judges, but that everyone feels he ‘deserves’ the fee.

MailOnline contacted representatives for Amanda, Alesha, Simon, and David for comment, and also approached Britain’s Got Talent spokespeople at the time.

Tune in to Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden weekdays from 06:30 – 10:00.
