SAS Australia’s Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham says Kim Kardashian’s 2016 Paris robbery was an ‘inside job’

SAS Australia directing staff Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham has labelled Kim Kardashian’s 2016 Paris robbery an ‘inside job’.

The 55-year-old was reflecting on his time as a celebrity bodyguard in an interview with Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa on Monday when he was asked his thoughts on the American reality star’s terrifying ordeal.

Mark said: ‘They [French police] reckon it was an inside job, if I had to make a guess I would say it probably was [sic].’

Radio host Sarah McGilvray asked: ‘Did you see the Kim Kardashian robbery, could you see where that went wrong? I mean she had a bodyguard, but they got right up in there?’

Billy responded: ‘Yeah, talk about an inside job! I don’t know the truth on it, but you’ve got to be careful, you know?

‘That’s the hardest part of being a bodyguard or having your own security is trust – it’s all about trust.’

The former SAS soldier added that someone from Kim’s inner circle could have easily ‘tipped off somebody’ on her location and schedule.

‘You’ve gotta look at all options and suspect the people closest to you, especially when it’s very very personal, you know [sic],’ he said.

Kim was robbed at gunpoint by armed men while staying in Paris for fashion week in 2016.

At the time, it was widely reported that the robbery might have been an ‘inside job’.

The gang of robbers posed as police officers before threatening the concierge of a short-term luxury apartment rental building close to the British Embassy in Paris known as the Hotel de Pourtalès.

Kardashian had been left alone in the suite while her bodyguard Pascal Duvier went to a nightclub on the Champs-Elysées with her sisters, Kourtney and Kendall Jenner.

She was tied up and had a gun pointed to her head while she was put in the hotel bathroom as the robbers selected pieces of her diamond jewellery, taking items worth $10million.

Personal treasures taken included two Cartier diamond bracelets, a Jacob necklace in gold inlaid with diamonds, earrings with diamonds and a necklace by Loraine Schwarz.

Aomar Ait Khedache, the alleged mastermind, said Kardashian was an ‘easy target’ because she kept divulging details about her possessions and their whereabouts.

The career criminal, who has served time for previous robberies, is still awaiting trial for the raid, along with 11 other presumed gang members.

Meanwhile, just last month, Kim settled a $6.1million lawsuit with her former bodyguard Pascal, accused of failing to protect her during her Paris robbery.
