Former Block contestants Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie reveal who they think will win

A year after appearing on The Block, Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie have revealed who they think will win this season’s show.

In an interview with Daily Mail Australia on Friday, the Sydney couple listed Harry and Tash, George and Sarah, and Daniel and Jade as being in with a ‘good chance’.

Interestingly, they made no mention of Jimmy and Tam, who have won the majority of challenges on this year’s season.

Weighing in: A year after appearing on The Block themselves, Mitch Edwards (left) and Mark McKie (right) have reflected on the current season, including who they think will win

‘It’s so hard to predict. The last few years have had surprise winners that no one expected, so who knows,’ they said.

‘It seems the houses the judges score high don’t come through at auction. Those auction gods pulling the strings have different ideas it seems!

‘If we think about layout and space, Harry and Tash have a house that will be attractive to lots of buyers. George and Sarah have created a house that should do well, as have Daniel and Jade, who we think are in with a good chance.’

Mitch, 57, and Mark briefly returned to this year’s season of The Block, helping Harry and Tash with the renovations on their Brighton house.

They admitted they were ‘a bit nervous’ going into the series, and were worried they may have ‘lost our Block-fitness’.

But both Mitch and Mark, 58, said Harry and Tash were extremely welcoming and open to their suggestions, and they easily fit back in.

They also thought they’d had an extra tough time as the only team on this year’s show without a background in trades.

‘The Block is one of the toughest things anyone can do, and if you don’t have a trades background it can be extra challenging,’ they explained.

The added: ‘Each of the teams this year have had their ups and downs and criticisms. It wouldn’t be The Block without it!’

And while Harry has had multiple run-ins with Keith Schleiger on this year’s season, Mitch and Mark maintain the foreman is actually ‘a big softie’.

‘He’s got a heart of gold and he is absolutely there to help whoever needs it. But only for those that treat him well, it may be a different story for others,’ they laughed.

While this year’s contestants have had to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, both Mitch and Mark maintained their season was a tougher build.

‘Having seen both the Oslo and the 2020 build, the Oslo is definitely a whole lot bigger!’ they said.

And while they would never have considered appearing on the show again on the back of their season, both Mitch and Mark said their opinions have changed.

After their brief stint on this year’s series, they said they’d happily sign up again if the opportunity were to present itself.

‘If you asked us this right at the end of the Oslo, our answer would have been NO…but now a big YES,’ they said.

They added: ‘If we were asked, we’d do it again in a heartbeat. It’s full-on, but such a unique experience.’

'If you asked us this right at the end of the Oslo, our answer would have been NO…but now a big YES,' they said of returning to The Block
