Jason Manford says he still enjoys making his six children cringe

‘I’m happy to embarrass them!’ Jason Manford says he still enjoys making his six children cringe as he talks homeschooling and surviving COVID-19 in lockdown

Jason Manford has admitted he still takes joy in embarrassing his six children in lockdown after weeks of trying to homeschool them.

The presenter, 39, said that despite getting to know his family even more during the pandemic, he still welcomes the chance to make them cringe with his behaviour.

In a new interview with The Sun Jason also discussed his decision to take on a second job as an Iceland delivery driver during lockdown after testing positive for the virus himself in April.

Jason said even he struggled with the workload that came with homeschooling his six children after they all moved in together in lockdown.

The presenter has four children with his ex-wife Catherine, and two with his current spouse Lucy Dyke.

He said: ‘I didn’t realise how thick I was. I thought I was pretty clever and then had to try to learn Year Seven maths, and that’s not my strong point.

‘I am more than happy to embarrass them, to start singing in a supermarket or something just to make them cringe.

‘I took my daughter to school last week in my pyjamas for pyjama day. She was like, ”That’s not what it is”. And I was like, ”Well it is for me”.’

Jason also confessed that his family were furious when he was revealed to be The Hedgehog on The Masked Singer, as he didn’t even tell his children he’d be taking part in the show.

He added that despite a few homeschooling hiccups he’s still loved being able to spend time with his family without the distractions of work.

Jason did get some breaks from homeschooling after taking on a job as an Iceland delivery driver, with his wages being donated to The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.

It was a job the star welcomed after he tested positive for COVID-19 himself in April, losing all sense of taste.

Jason has been forced to postpone his upcoming tour due to the ongoing pandemic and with the free time in his schedule has decided to throw himself into Christmas with food and treats galore.

After signing up for Soccer Aid earlier this year the comic vowed to get in shape for the charity event by running and completing online workouts by The Body Coach Joe Wicks.

Jason admitted two years ago that he has body confidence issues, telling Lorraine Kelly about his battle with ‘self-loathing’.

Afraid to post a snap of himself wearing sporty shorts at the time, he told Lorraine: ‘I kept pulling myself in. [I’m] sort of just getting into this [health] thing. I see the guy from Thor and I think, “Oh that’s what arms are supposed to look like”.

But Jason eventually overcame his insecurities and posted a snap of himself proudly wearing the shorts.
