Strictly’s Jamie Laing reveals he accidentally dropped dance partner Karen Hauer because he got wrapped up in the applause they received

On Saturday he left fans in hysterics after accidentally dropping his dance partner twice after their bounce back performance.

And Jamie Laing explained he had dropped Karen Hauer after getting too excited and wrapped up in the applause they received at the end of their dance.

Appearing on It Takes Two together on Wednesday, the Made In Chelsea star, 32, looked sheepish as the professional dancer, 38, said she felt the love from their fellow stars ‘when [she] hit the floor’.

Overexcited: Strictly’s Jamie Laing revealed on Wednesday’s It Takes Two he accidentally dropped Karen Hauer because he got wrapped up in the applause they received on Saturday

Host Zoe Ball asked Jamie to explain why he had done it, and he clarified: ‘What happened was, I’m going to put it out there… we did an incredible dance.

‘Karen was up there and then I heard an applause and I thought, “Me? Me? Really? Get off of me, it’s not you, it’s me.”‘

Recreating the way Jamie had dropped her, Karen joked she was in a position she’d ‘never been in before’ on the show, but stipulated that she was ‘proud’ of Jamie and all the hard work he put into their performance.

Strictly fans were wiping away their tears of laughter as Jamie dropped Karen not once, but twice when he was elated to receive such a positive response from the group of stars and professionals.

The pair performed a Charleston to the song Zero to Hero from Disney’s Hercules, and Jamie’s final lift in the dance took some manoeuvring as he struggled to put Karen down.

Then, following their solid score, he came dangerously close to dropping her again after lifting her up in celebration.

Dressed in their zany Greek-inspired costumes, Jamie and Karen delivered a surprisingly strong performance.

The dance ended with Jamie lifting Karen into the air, and he came close to losing his grip as he put her back down, leaving the pair in hysterical laughter.

Regardless the judges were full of praise as they lauded Jamie for coming back strong after being in the dance-off last week.

Over the moon: The second time Jamie nearly dropped Karen was when he learned he'd scored 23 points out of 30 for his performance, and lifted her into the air in celebration

Oh no! Clearly thrilled the star lifted his partner into the air, but didn't seem to maintain Hercules' endless strength as he nearly lost his grip on Karen has he put her down

Motsi Mabuse said: ‘What a comeback that was really funny in a good way it was entertaining, you’ve got the character on point, I mean you were light on your feet and then in the middle it just went over.

Shirley Ballas added: ‘From bottom two last week, I only ever hope for a little bit of improvement and you come back with a massive improvement! From zero to hero!’

Jamie and Karen headed up to the balcony to receive their score, which ended up being 23 points out of 30.
