Most popular homes for sale in Britain November 2020

The most popular homes for sale as we move deeper into lockdown have been revealed and they throw up a few surprises.

Usually, these lists are dominated by multi-million pound homes that most people can only dream of owning.

But that aspirational window shopping seems to have been replaced amid the pandemic with far more realistic expectations.

Top of the most recent list of the most viewed homes on property website Zoopla and exclusively shared with Mail Online Property is a static caravan costing £45,000.

Most viewed: This static caravan holiday home in West Sussex is for sale for £44,995

While staycations  have been the order of the day amid the pandemic, a static caravan is taking it a step further in securing a break.

Many people will have missed out on their annual summer holiday overseas and may have even struggled to secure a booking closer to home, with traditional British tourist spots – such as Cornwall – overrun during the summer.

A static caravan, however, can guarantee a getaway, often at the time of your choosing – and some you can even live in all year around.

Buyers need to look carefully at the restrictions on each individual caravan park as there can be big variations between them.

We recently looked at what to consider if tempted to buy a property like this.

This particular static caravan – the most viewed property for sale in Britain – is a holiday home at Bunn Leisure site in Selsey, West Sussex.

It is a 2015 model with two bedrooms and its 2021 site fees are included in the £44,995 price.

Tony Taccone, of Myholidayparks.com, said: ‘With the lockdown restrictions, quarantine rules and lack of international flights, people who went on holiday this summer, especially those with young families, opted for holiday parks.

‘It explains the surge in occupancy levels on the holiday parks and the sky high prices.

‘With the ongoing pandemic, owning your own static caravan or lodge could prove to be a good investment as you can access it anytime of year when the park is open.’

Meanwhile, the pandemic has also encouraged homebuyers to look outside of cities and seek rural and coastal locations.

Included in the list of most viewed homes for sales is a two-bedroom cottage in Torquay, Devon, with an asking price of £259,000.

Tomer Aboody, of property lender MT Finance, said: ‘This trend was created by the impact of lockdown 1, with homebuyers looking for increased space – both inside and out – and gardens.

‘There is also a growing desire for local village environments where people can work from home, shop locally and travel into London, when they need to, with good rail access.’

The housing market has remained opened during the latest lockdown, unlike earlier this year, when it shut down for a couple of months.

Tom Parker, at Zoopla, said: ‘This second lockdown has brought with it a further boost to demand for property.’

Here, we reveal Zoopla’s top 10 most viewed homes for sale on its website during the past 30 days.
