Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood gushes about spending lockdown with fiance Jonathan Myring

Craig Revel Horwood gushed about spending time in lockdown with fiance Jonathan Myring, as it meant they ‘got to know each other better.’

The Strictly Come Dancing judge, 55, spoke candidly with Best Magazine on Tuesday about being stuck at home during the coronavirus crisis, and how it helped their relationship go from strength to strength.

He explained: ‘We’ve got to know each other better. There are couples who don’t live with each other until they get married, then they’re in shock – they realise how little they knew about that person and their little idiosyncrasies.

‘We haven’t discovered we actually detest each other, we “work”. There’s no gardening to do now, so we’re together even more. It’s been brilliant – we’ve just got stronger and stronger.’

In October, Craig announced to The Daily Mail he and Jonathan were postponing their nuptials to 2022, saying he wanted to avoid a small COVID wedding in favour of a huge bash with lots of guests.

Discussing the decision to do so with Best Magazine, he added: ‘We’re now planning to tie the knot in 2022. As you know, much of 2020 went out the window, it just disappeared.

‘But it’s been good for us for wedding planning. We know that we definitely want to have our big day at home, here in England.’

Speaking earlier this year about the change of nuptial plans, he explained: ‘I want it to be big and fun, not a COVID wedding with five people there.

‘It’ll take a couple of years to plan it, but we’re not in a rush.’

The happy couple got engaged in March after his husband-to-be proposed during a trip to Tasmania, and Craig added: ‘Then I’d love to jet off to the Maldives, then perhaps return to Tasmania on our honeymoon.’

Going on to talk about the possibility of having a family with Jonathan, he went on: ‘I’m not ruling out kids, but I’m 55 and I’ll be 56 in January.

‘I’m getting a bit long in the tooth. Having said that, Elton John managed it, so why not? Never say never.’

In April, Craig revealed they were engaged and admitted he can’t wait for the couple to spend ‘the rest of their lives together.’

The pair, who started dating in 2018, are now planning their wedding after the horticulturalist surprised Craig by proposing during trip to Tasmania in March.

Craig was previously married to wife Jane for two and a half years; the former couple exchanged vows in 1990 when he was 25 and she was 30.

But he recently admitted the marriage collapsed after he caught her in bed with another man.

‘Time was ticking. She wanted to have children and I thought, “Well, this is a really good opportunity,”‘ he told the Daily Mail in 2019. ‘I was both gay and straight, so being bisexual, it wasn’t a big issue for me or her.

‘We were two people who loved each other, coming together and wanting to have kids before it was too late. But then it ended in adultery. That was after two-and-a-half years.

‘When you find someone in bed with someone else and they say they are in love with them, that puts a dampener on it.’
