I’m A Celebrity crew test out bow and arrow challenge as the first trials are set up in Gwrych Castle ahead of series launch in Wales

The first UK-based series of I’m A Celebrity is set to kick off on Sunday evening.

And ahead of the launch show, members of the ITV programme’s crew were seen testing out some of the challenges that the celebrity contestants will partake in.

Two female crew members were seen brandishing a bow and arrows as they tried out an upcoming challenge at the Gwrych Castle site in Abergele, north Wales.

It appears the tasks this year have been tweaked to reflect the new castle venue, with this particular challenge taking on a medieval theme.

Elsewhere on location, other crew members were spotted setting up one of the first trials of the series inside the castle walls.

Workers wearing hi-vis jackets appeared to be hard at work as they continued to set up the venue just days before the show is due to kick off.

Vick Hope will be hosting I’m A Celebrity…The Daily Drop, a brand-new series following all camp activity, available on ITV Hub every morning after the main show.

A spokesman for the castle addressed the recent lockdown as they confirmed the show would go ahead as planned.

Taking to Twitter, they said: ‘Following the announcement from the First Minister the overriding message is that filming CAN continue in Wales providing related activity cannot be undertaken from home, and there is full compliance with Welsh law. We cannot wait to see I’m A Celebrity on our screens.’

Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford announced on October 16 that the ‘firebreak’ lockdown would start on Friday 23 October and run until at least November 9.
