This cat in China has the most dramatic way to ask for a refill of his late-night snacks.

Footage of the two-year-old American shorthair, named Li Bai, whining with a seemingly grumpy face as he led his owner to his empty bowls melted the hearts of tens of millions on social media.

The Chinese pet owner told MailOnline that her cat was such a ‘drama queen’ as he would often whine like this to get her attention.

The scene was captured on camera by the pet owner, Ms Zhang, on Saturday night at her home in Beijing.

In an amusing video, Li Bai can be heard meowing in a seemingly grumpy tone while walking in front of his owner.

The moggie then stopped in front of his empty bowls and turned around to look at his owner with an apparently sad face as though he was demanding more midnight snacks. 

Ms Zhang told MailOnline that she had woken up in the night to use the toilet when her cat would not leave her alone.

‘I was in the bathroom and he was just walking around me,’ the woman said. ‘I followed him and filmed the video.’

Ms Zhang joked that her cat was such a ‘drama queen’ as he would often whine like this to get her attention.

The cat owner, who has been sharing clips of her feline online, uploaded the footage on Douyin, the Chinese equivalent of TikTok.

Li Bai’s adorable food request quickly amassed over 250million views, with many netizens amused by the moggie’s whining sound.

One viewer wrote: ‘Haha this is so adorable! The way he was meowing sounded like he was complaining and saying, ‘look, there is no food!’

Another web user said: ‘Oh my god this has melted my heart. Hurry up, fill up those bowls with food!’

Another seemingly hungry feline was recently caught on camera sneaking behind an angler, apparently trying to steal fish from the man’s bucket in China. 

The ginger cat is seen in trending footage tiptoeing around the bucket while trying to reach for something inside with its paw in a determined fashion.

With eyes fixed on the prize, the feline was caught off guard after it suddenly saw the Chinese man watching the animal’s every move with amusement.
