‘This is a deeply sensitive time for our family’: The Veronicas’ Lisa and Jess Origliasso postpone their 15-year anniversary show because they ‘are needed back home in Brisbane’

They were set to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their debut album ‘The Secret Life Of…’ at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney.

But on Monday, Lisa and Jessica Origliasso announced they were postponing their upcoming acoustic show on November 18 to be in Brisbane with their mother Colleen, who is suffering from Lewy body dementia.

Taking to Instagram, the 35-year-old twins said they had already left Sydney and started their COVID-19 quarantine in Byron Bay.

‘We know most of you understand that this is a deeply sensitive time for our family. That requires priority,’ they wrote to their 134,000 followers.

The Veronicas added tickets for the Sydney event would be refunded and a replacement show was being held in Byron Bay on November 17.

‘It will be acoustic and as intimate as we can get with our clothes on,’ they added.

‘Will announce new dates and venues all around Australia next year. We cant wait to celebrate with you guys.’

Lisa and Jess’ mum Colleen was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia about two years ago, which causes a sufferer’s thinking, memory and movement to slowly deteriorate.

The duo have acted as the 71-year-old’s carers, which they said was the least they could do for their ‘absolute hero’ and ‘best friend’ in an emotional interview with Brisbane’s B105 FM In October.

‘We are in awe every day of this woman. Just our absolute hero, and to be able to care for her, give back to her even a tiny bit of the love she has thrown us throughout our lives is an absolute honour… but it is incredibly difficult work,’ they confessed for National Carers Week.

'It's heartbreaking. You're grieving. Your best friend, your mummy... and you know the statistics. There are 2.6 million unpaid carers in Australia and a lot of them don't even realise they are carers,' Lisa and Jess said in an emotional interview about their mum in October

‘We’re just here to say that if you are someone who is caring for a loved one – a friend or family member – that we see you and thank you for everything you’re doing.’

The Veronicas were recently in Sydney filming Celebrity Apprentice Australia, which will air in 2021.
