Walking his adorable pet pooches is his favourite pastime.

And on Monday, Hugh Jackman, 52, looked happy and relaxed as he walked his poodle-terrier mix Allegra and French bulldog, Dali, on their leashes in SoHo, New York.

Ensuring to spread the limit of COVID-19, the Australian Oscar-nominee sported a protective face mask for his outing.

Hugh added to his off-duty look with a grey ‘East Hampton Gym’ jumper and black ankle-grazing trousers.

The Greatest Showman star’s sighting comes after his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, 64, has revealed she feels Australia has an ‘anti-adoption culture’.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the actress said the pair adopted their two children, Ava, 15, and Oscar, 20, in the United States because it was ‘easier’.

Deborra-Lee and Hugh decided to adopt in the early 2000s after the actress suffered two miscarriages while undergoing IVF in the 1990s.

She told the paper: ‘Adopting kids in America was much easier than it was in Australia, we literally tried in Australia, and I walked out of the first meeting – I was so appalled by the setup and the people that were running it.

‘I was just horrified, and I said, “We’re not doing it”, and then it happened that we moved to America. We were not famous over there, we jumped through every hoop and did it all by the books, and it was so much easier.’

In another recent interview with Australia’s The Morning Show, Deborra-Lee revealed herself and movie star Hugh would like to return to their native Australia.

When asked if her family had any plans to return to Australia, Deborra-lee revealed they were hoping to come back ‘as soon as we can’.

‘I would love to come home – let us in!’ she said, seemingly in reference to Australia’s closed border during the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘We’re desperate to come home, so as soon as we can, we will be there,’ she added.
