Guy Sebastian breaks his silence on rumours he was meant to appear on SAS Australia before ‘dropping out’ when he realised how gruelling it would be

Guy Sebastian has set the record straight on swirling rumours he ‘dropped out’ of Seven’s new military show, SAS Australia, ahead of filming.

Uploading a video to his Instagram Stories on Monday, the 39-year-old explained that while he is a fan of the series, he was never scheduled to join the cast.

‘I never pulled out of the show and it was never the plan for me to go on it, I’m proud of those who did like it would be a tough thing to be involved in,’ he explained.

Setting the record straight! Guy Sebastian, 39, (pictured) slammed reports he ‘dropped out’ of appearing on Seven’s new military show, SAS Australia, in a lengthy video shared to his Instagram on Monday

‘Here’s me in a camo shot, so that must mean that I was up for SAS,’ he sarcastically joked as he held up a photo of himself dressed in camouflage trousers.

The Voice Australia judge continued: ‘I enjoyed the show like I watched some episodes of Jules. But [the magazine] says I was like a vocal critic of the show. I wasn’t.’

Guy told his Instagram followers that his quotes from a recent interview were taken out of context when asked what he thought about the new grueling series.

‘There was a scene where there was fighting involved and I said ‘I just I didn’t really like that bit’, but I thought the rest of the show was good,’ he explained.

The Love On Display singer concluded his post by adding: ‘I’m not a vocal critic of it, and it’s not like it’s not a thing. So I’ll just knock that one on the head.’

On Monday, Woman’s Day magazine claimed the former Australian Idol winner was initially part of the star-studded cast.

‘There were serious discussions about him joining and he originally loved the idea, but when it became clear how gruelling and confronting the series would be, he just backed out,’ a source told the magazine.

‘On paper he was the perfect candidate, well-known and loved, but I don’t think he realised how real and raw the show was,’ the insider added.

Guy recently made headlines when he voiced his opinions on the controversial boxing match between Nick Cummins and AFLW’s Sabrina Frederick, which aired in the first week.

Speaking to Nova 93.7’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun last month, Guy said the fight made him ‘feel sick’ while watching it.

‘My wife and I run a foundation where we deal with domestic violence. I thought that was pretty p**s poor, if I’m being honest,’ he explained.

He said the brutal fight sent the wrong message to young men watching.
