The Real Housewives of Auckland will return for a new TV special… but not all of the original cast will be back
The Real Housewives of Auckland was quietly cancelled after the show’s first season aired back in 2016.
But in a surprise turn of events, Bravo New Zealand is set to revive the series for a one-off TV special.
The one-hour episode, titled Get Housewived, is a spin-off that will see some of the original cast members reunite to give one lucky family a glamorous makeover.

In a statement, Bravo NZ executive Chris Taylor told TBI Vision: ‘We hope our NZ audiences enjoy this feel-good special featuring some of their favorite Housewives of Auckland.’
Producer Alastair McKinnon added: ‘It is such a genius idea to have our fabulous Real Housewives Of Auckland reunite to bring some much-needed glitz and glamour to the lives of others. What could possibly go wrong?’
While fans will no doubt be looking forward to seeing the Housewives back in action, only two of the six women have been confirmed for the special.

According to Real Screen, Gilda Kirkpatrick and Michelle Blanchard are the only two returning cast members.
The special is due to air on Bravo New Zealand at the end of the year.
Back in 2017, cast member Anne Batley-Burton expressed her disappointment that the original series wasn’t picked up for a second season.
‘We’ve been disappointed because we’ve more or less been told there isn’t going to be one for now,’ she told the Huffington Post.
‘I think it’s a question of funds as to why we didn’t shoot a second season. It’s really expensive to film this in our really small country.’

Fans were hoping to see the show return after it followed in the footsteps of The Real Housewives of Melbourne by being picked up by Bravo in the U.S. – something that the Sydney installment of the franchise failed to achieve.
The controversial series amassed a string of high-profile celebrity fans in America, including Lena Dunham and comedian Heather McDonald of the hit Juicy Scoop podcast.
It also became a favourite on the popular Bravo-focused American podcast Watch What Crappens, with hosts Ben Mandelker and Ronnie Karam becoming loyal fans.
‘It should’ve gone another season because Angela [Stone] is reality TV gold,’ Ben told The Spinoff. ‘I mean. She was so delusional, you can’t just throw that out.’
